Astrafel Terms of Use

1. What these terms are about

These terms are an agreement between you and Arvids Kapusta, Daugavpils, Latvia (“we”) about using the Astrafel app. They supplement Apple’s Standard License Agreement (section 12). By installing and using the app, you accept these terms.

How we handle data is described in the Privacy Policy: astrafel.app/privacy.

2. What Astrafel is

Astrafel is entertainment: star portraits, birth charts and forecasts for cats and dogs.

• Astrology here is a tradition of interpretation, not science. The app doesn’t predict the future; forecasts don’t promise events and guarantee nothing.
• The app’s texts aren’t veterinary advice or advice about health, feeding or training. If you’re worried about your pet’s well-being or behavior, see a vet.
• The app calculates planet positions on your phone using astronomical formulas; their interpretations come from astrological tradition.
• The zodiac sign never comes from the photo. From the photo, Claude describes your pet’s coat, expression and pose in the picture.

3. Free version and Premium

No sign-up is needed. Free: one pet, its profile and sign, a forecast by sign for every day, the birth chart with interpretations of the Sun and the Moon, unlimited portraits by the stars, and one star portrait from a photo (a failed attempt usually doesn’t count: up to two failed attempts a month are returned). We may refuse the free portrait from a photo if Apple’s app integrity check (App Attest) for your device indicates abuse — for example, if the app has been registered on it unusually many times.

Premium adds personal daily and weekly forecasts, interpretations of the other planets, the ascendant, houses and aspects, more portraits from photos, and up to 10 pets. The exact list for your pet and device is shown on the subscription screen.

Some features depend on your pet’s data: the birth chart needs the birth date; the ascendant and houses also need the time and place. AI features — the portrait from a photo and personal forecasts — work only on devices that support Apple’s app integrity check (App Attest).

4. Subscription

• Premium is an auto-renewable subscription for a week, a month or a year. There’s no free trial.
• The price is shown on the paywall and in the App Store purchase confirmation, in your country’s currency. We may test different prices, so different users sometimes see different prices for the same period. You’re charged the price you confirmed.
• Payment will be charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in your Apple Account settings. To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period.
• You can cancel or change your plan in iPhone Settings (your name → “Subscriptions”) or in the app: Settings → “Manage subscription”. After you cancel, Premium works until the end of the paid period.
• Deleting the app doesn’t cancel the subscription.
• If the subscription price goes up, Apple will notify you in advance under its rules.
• Apple handles payments and refunds under its own rules: you can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. We don’t have access to your payments.
• “Restore purchases” on the paywall and in Settings brings Premium back after a reinstall and on another device with the same Apple Account.
• If you haven’t reached the age at which you can make purchases on your own in your country, subscribe with your parent’s permission.

5. AI-generated texts

• Star portraits from photos and personal forecasts are written by the Claude model from Anthropic. These texts are labeled. Free forecasts by sign are also created in advance with Claude and go through the same checks.
• The data for portraits and personal forecasts goes to Anthropic only with your permission: for a portrait — on the “AI photo analysis” screen, for personal forecasts — on the “AI personal forecasts” screen. Without permission for forecasts, you see the general forecast by sign, and everything else in Premium stays; you can give permission later and withdraw it in Settings.
• Texts may be inaccurate, repeat themselves or not match your pet’s personality.
• Before it’s shown, every text is checked automatically: against a list of banned words and by a separate check with a model. No person reads the texts before they’re shown.
• If a text fails the check or the AI is unavailable, the app says so plainly and shows a text by sign or a pre-written forecast instead. Your free portrait from a photo usually isn’t used up in that case: up to two failed attempts a month are returned.
• If a text seems inaccurate or unpleasant, or is about health, tap “Report a problem”. Only the reason and the text’s reference number are sent; we’ll review the text.

6. Your photos and acceptable use

• Upload only photos of your own pets or pets you’ve been allowed to photograph, and only pictures you have the rights to.
• The app is for cats and dogs. It rejects photos where a person takes up a noticeable part of the frame and blurs faces in the frame. Don’t try to get around this check.
• Don’t upload obscene, violent or illegal images, or pictures with text instructions aimed at the AI.
• Don’t try to bypass limits, modify the app or forge requests to the server, send requests automatically, or copy the service.
• Your photos remain yours. You allow us to pass a photo to Anthropic only to create a portrait — after you give consent in the app.
• You can share portrait cards with friends and on social media. You may not use the app’s texts for commercial purposes.

7. Limits and service protection

To keep the service available for everyone, AI features have per-minute and per-day limits for each device, customer and subscription. If a limit is reached, the app will suggest trying again later. After repeated violations, the limits on portraits from photos are lowered for 30 days. We may restrict access to AI features if the app or requests have been modified or the service is used in a way that gets around these terms.

AI features may be temporarily unavailable — because of an outage, maintenance or the service’s daily budget running out. The rest of the app keeps working.

8. Rights to the app

The app, its design, texts and code belong to us or our licensors. Fonts and third-party libraries are used under their own licenses, listed in the app: Settings → “Licenses”. You get a personal, non-commercial right to use the app on your Apple devices under Apple’s Standard License Agreement.

9. Privacy

What data we process, who we share it with and how to delete it is described in the Privacy Policy: astrafel.app/privacy.

10. Changes

We keep developing the app: features may change, appear or be removed. We publish each new version of these terms at astrafel.app/terms and in the app, with a new date at the top, and announce significant changes in the update notes in the App Store. If you don’t agree with a new version, you can stop using the app and cancel your subscription.

11. Liability

The app is provided “as is”. We try to keep it running without problems but can’t guarantee that. We aren’t responsible for decisions made based on the app’s texts. The limitations of liability in Apple’s Standard License Agreement apply to the extent the law allows.

Nothing in these terms limits the rights that the law of your country gives consumers and that can’t be limited by contract, or any liability that can’t be excluded by law.

12. Apple’s Standard License Agreement

The app is licensed under Apple’s Standard License Agreement (Licensed Application End User License Agreement): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. These terms supplement it. If they differ from Apple’s agreement on any point, Apple’s agreement prevails.

Apple isn’t a party to these terms and isn’t responsible for the app, its content or support. Please contact us with any questions about the app.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Latvia. If you’re a consumer living in another country, you keep the rights that the law of that country gives you, including the right to go to court where you live if that law provides for it.
